Each May, the Black Tiger Gridiron Alumni Club awards scholarships in honor of past and current coaches who have shaped the lives of many students over the years. The scholarship program is funded by the money raised during our Annual Fundraiser.
Our scholarship committee selects winners based on an essay the student submits, their grade point average, and the overall example they have set in the community. Scholarships are now awarded to senior football players, cheerleaders, and band members to assist in their future academic endeavors, with each winner announced at the annual Senior Recognition Awards Ceremony. These young people are great examples of the future, and we thank all our members and contributors who help make these scholarships possible.
Thank you to all who have supported our events so we can provide this money to these fine young men and women that are a part of the Black Tiger Football Family!!!
The Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholarship is in place to assist a Cuyahoga Falls High School Senior Football Player(s), Senior Cheerleader, Senior Band Member, and/or Senior Student Super Fan who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must do well academically, exhibit leadership potential, participate in extra-curricular activities, and illustrate a readiness for college. The applicant must be a Cuyahoga Falls High School senior in good academic standing and on course to graduate his/her senior year.
Each year, at least three students will be designated Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholars. A Senior Football Player will receive a $2,000 scholarship and will also be eligible for a second $2,000 scholarship (The Coach Terry Ross Achievement Scholarship) for their sophomore year based on qualifications set forth by the Club. A Senior Cheerleader, Senior Band Member and/or Senior Student Super Fan will receive a one-time $500 scholarship. The recipients may use the scholarships to attend an accredited four-year or two-year college or university of their choice within the United States. Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholarships are not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline.
Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholars are selected in the spring prior to entering college. Applications are screened during the month of March by The Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholar Program committee. Winners of the scholarship will be announced in May at Senior Recognition and names will be posted on The Black Tiger Gridiron Club website in early May.
The Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholarship Program application deadline is March 1st. All applications must be received by the coach or instructor by March 1st in order to be considered for The Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholarship. Incomplete, e-mailed, faxed or mailed applications will not be considered.
